The new Mac Mini
Hey, you! Reading this blog! Yeah, you probably know about Apples' new Mac Mini. Now despite the marketing route that Apple had chosen to project this as a switcher-product, the Mac mini is soo much more. After all, it has got the most wonderful reviews from even the worst of Apple-bashers!
Now lets consider the other things this product can achieve, other than convert the Wintel faithful.
Obviously, the Mac mini is the smallest computer out there (and oh! so stylish!!) It is probably the first 'Media Center' computer out there. Ofcourse Microsoft started it, but have you seen any of the Media Center PC's? They all suck! Even the concept Media Center PC's suck! The mini, however, is the first computer you'd ever wanna hook up to your 42" Plasma (or place it anywhere in your living room for that matter)! This is where the media center realm begins! The sheer elegance, size and quietness of the machine wins it the award!
The mini can also be used as a Media server for the rest of your PC's/Mac's. Despite Steve Jobs' lack of attribution to it, the mini can perform wirelessly with Airport and/or Bluetooth thru an on-board extension available thru Apple.
The mini is so small - and being a G4, very cool and not power-hungry - that you could use it as an entertainment center in your car or GMC Truck! You can even tow along the same machine from living room to the truck and back! Its THAT portable!
So, even though Apple is aiming this produt at switchers (who most probably will switch now as they have no more excuses left!), this is a product for media-holics! Parents, grandparents, teenagers who want to organize their music and photos, make movies and stuff, and then show it off to people (or just keep them for memory's sake!) should really take a look at this really really low-cost, stylish machine from Apple!
